BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 21, 2026) – Sunday night, officers arrested Julian Duque Harper after an alarming police chase crash on Highway 14 near Highway 58.

The incident started at around 11:50 p.m. when a detained felon with a violent criminal history began assaulting another detainee inside a patrol vehicle. Then, the suspect assaulted the officer and stole the patrol vehicle.

According to reports, the stolen patrol vehicle struck another vehicle and crashed into a guardrail.
