3 People Injured in Alarming Single-Vehicle Crash on Highway 108 [Tuolumne County, CA]

Injuries Reported in Tuolumne County Auto Accident on Highway 108 and Kennedy Meadows Road

TUOLUMNE COUNTY, CA (June 29, 2025) – Thursday, an alarming single-vehicle crash on Highway 108 injured 3 people.

The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. on Highway 108, east of Kennedy Meadows Road in the Stanislaus National Forest.

Three passengers, including a nine-year-old girl and a young boy, suffered major injuries after their vehicle went down a 70-foot embankment and overturned along Highway 108, authorities said.

According to CHP, 18-year-old Devon Dotson was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Venture westbound when he failed to navigate a curve for unknown reasons. The vehicle veered off the road, rolled down the embankment, and flipped.

The young girl was airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada, while the boy was flown to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. A 45-year-old woman was transported by air to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Highway 108 was closed for over an hour as multiple emergency agencies, including Tuolumne County Fire, CAL FIRE TCU, Mountain Warfare Fire Department, Bridgeport Fire, and Manteca District Ambulance — carried out a low-angle rope rescue to reach the victims.

CHP spokesperson Officer Steve Machado confirmed that the driver and the two children were wearing seatbelts. The adult passenger was not.

The crash remains under investigation.
