FRESNO, CA (September 24, 2026) – Tuesday night, an officer was injured in an alarming vehicle crash on Friant Road and Lakeview Drive.

The incident involving a minivan and a Fresno police patrol vehicle happened at about 10:30 p.m. on Friant Road and Lakeview Drive.

The Fresno police officer was hospitalized after a van crashed into a patrol vehicle that was blocking the road following an earlier crash, according to police.

The patrol vehicle had its emergency lights activated and was positioned with a cone pattern around 10 p.m. when the collision occurred. Police said the 60-year-old van driver told investigators he did not see the patrol vehicle before crashing into it, causing the police vehicle to overturn with the officer inside.

Meanwhile, the officer was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately known, but police said he was in good spirits.

Also, the van driver was being evaluated. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
