No First Responders Injured after Alarming Vehicle Crash on Interstate 35 [Lorena, TX]

Vehicle Crashes into Fire Department Engine in Lorena Auto Accident on Interstate 35 near Mile Marker 320

LORENA, TX (September 13, 2026) – Saturday morning, no first responders were injured in an alarming vehicle crash on Interstate 35.

The incident happened on Interstate 35 near mile marker 320.

A motorist crashed into a Lorena Fire Department engine while firefighters were responding to multiple crashes on southbound I-35 early in the morning, according to the department.

Lorena FD crews were dispatched to a crash near mile marker 320 around 4:25 a.m. While firefighters were assisting at the scene, a second crash occurred north of the original incident.

Firefighters responded to the second crash and positioned Engine 2 to protect first responders and motorists by blocking the affected travel lanes and an additional lane. A motorist then crashed into the fire engine.

No first responders were injured. Across the three crashes, those involved either were taken to the hospital with minor injuries or were evaluated at the scene and declined transportation, officials said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash involving Engine 2. Lorena FD reminded drivers to slow down or move over when approaching emergency vehicles and to remain alert.
