McGregor Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on FM-580 in Coryell County

Coryell County, TX (July 28, 2026) — A two-vehicle crash in Coryell County on Saturday afternoon claimed the life of a 40-year-old McGregor man, identified as Alberto Anthony Lopez, and left three others injured.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 12:39 p.m. on FM-580. Investigators determined that a 68-year-old Belton man was driving a 2018 Ford pickup towing a hay trailer eastbound when he attempted to turn left into a private driveway.

Authorities said the Ford driver failed to yield to an oncoming westbound 2017 Chevrolet pickup driven by Lopez, causing the two vehicles to collide.

Emergency responders pronounced Lopez dead at the scene. Three passengers in the Chevrolet sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the Texas crash.
