16-Year-Old Alberto Castillo Dies in Horrific Crash on West Lyons Avenue [Newhall, CA]

Newhall, CA (June 14, 2025) 16-year-old Alberto Castillo died Thursday evening in a tragic Newhall skateboarding crash.

According to authorities, the fatal crash happened on the 23500 block of West Lyons Avenue around 11:19 p.m.

Reports say that a pickup truck collided with Castillo, killing the skateboarder.

Authorities say that the accident occurred on the eastbound lanes of West Lyons Avenue.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station reports that the pickup truck driver did not see Castillo until it was too late.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded at, but Castillo died at the scene. His family and friends gathered at a roadside memorial on Lyons Avenue to commemorate him with balloons, candles, and flowers.
