George, WA (January 24, 2026) — A fatal head-on collision near George claimed the life of 53-year-old Alejandro Cartagena Hernandez of Ephrata.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash happened when a southbound pickup driven by 39-year-old Gerardo Silva Diaz crossed the centerline and struck Cartagena Hernandez’s northbound truck head-on.

Troopers identified the victim as Hernandez. Investigators determined that he was not at fault.
