28-Year-Old Alexander Heydari Arrested in Deadly DUI Crash on Bonita Road [Chula Vista, CA]

Chula Vista, CA (July 29, 2025) On Monday afternoon, vehicle struck and killed a maintenance worker in Chula Vista, and authorities arrested Alexander Heydari on suspicion of DUI.

According to authorities, the deadly crash happened around 1:30 p.m., a Toyota Prius was heading east on Bonita Road near Allen School Road when the driver failed to navigate a turn. The car veered into oncoming traffic, hit a parked vehicle, then jumped the curb and struck a 46-year-old maintenance worker on the sidewalk.

Emergency responders tried to save the victim, but the worker died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the individual’s name.

Police identified the driver as Heydari and arrested him for suspected drug-related DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Heydari was not injured.

The crash shut down Bonita Road at Allen School Road for several hours as Chula Vista Police conducted their investigation. Officers urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Traffic Bureau.
