Two Women Killed, Man Injured in Crash on U.S. 59 Near Lufkin

Lufkin, TX (May 26, 2025) — 43-year-old Alishia Scott and 49-year-old Tiffany Rutland lost their lives, and a man suffered injuries following a single-vehicle crash Monday morning on U.S. Highway 59 south of Lufkin.

According to police, the crash happened around 9 a.m. in the 5000 block of U.S. 59 as the occupants traveled north toward Lufkin in a Chevrolet Tahoe. Scott died at the scene.

Emergency crews airlifted Rutland and the injured man to an out-of-town hospital. Authorities later confirmed Rutland also died from her injuries. Officials have not released the condition of the male passenger.

Lufkin police and Texas DPS troopers continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
