Driver Injured in Welcome Deadly Head-On Crash

Welcome, WA (May 19, 2026) – Allen York, 62, of Ferndale, was fatally injured following a Mount Baker Highway head-on crash Saturday morning.

Officers said York was driving westbound near Bell Creek Road when his car crossed the center line and crashed head-on onto an eastbound vehicle.

Responding officers declared York deceased at the scene.

Moreover, the other driver, a 27-year-old man from Maple Falls, was taken to Peacehealth St Joseph Medical Center.

WSP is conducting a further investigation into the accident and stated that say no drugs or alcohol were involved.
