Alma Peregrino Rivas, 41, Dead in Canyon Drive Collision [Amarillo, TX] 

Amarillo, TX (September 2, 2026) – Alma Peregrino Rivas, 41, was killed following a Canyon Drive collision Monday evening.

It was past 6 p.m. when the deadly crash happened on SW 45th Avenue.

Troopers said a Ford pickup truck occupied by two adults and an 8-year-old child and a GMC SUV were traveling north on Canyon Drive.

Suddenly, the Ford changed lanes struck the GMC.

As a result, the GMC crashed into the center concrete median. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it stopped in the grassy median.

Moreover, the Ford’s driver also lost control and rolled. The three people riding the Ford were thrown from the vehicle.

Troopers rushed to the scene and declared Alma Peregrino Rivas, deceased.

The medical team rushed the 8-year-old child to an area hospital where the child later died.

Rescuers also rushed a 34-year-old man with life-threatening injuries to Northwest Texas Healthcare System. They later airlifted him Lubbock for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the GMC driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Officers are conducting a further investigation into the deadly crash.
