63-Year-Old Amanda Sparks Hurt in Deadly Crash on Highway 7

Houston County Head-On Collision Kills 2 Children, Injures 2 Adults

Houston County, TX (September 5, 2025) — 63-year-old Amanda Sparks of Kennard was injured and two children lost their lives in a head-on crash Wednesday evening in Houston County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that a Ford F-350 crossed the center line on Highway 7 near FM 232 around 5:38 p.m. and collided with an eastbound Lexus.

The Lexus driver, Sparks, was traveling with a 5-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy. Tragically, both children died at the scene. Emergency crews airlifted Sparks to a hospital with critical injuries.

Authorities identified the Ford driver as 25-year-old Charles Spikes of Huntsville. Paramedics transported him to a hospital, also with serious injuries.

DPS continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
