Andre Calmelet Killed in Tragic Rear-End Crash on FM 1442 [Bridge City, TX]

Bridge City, TX (January 15, 2025) On Monday, 43-year-old Andre Calmelet of Beaumont, was killed while a 38-year-old man from Orange was injured in a fatal rear-end collision on FM 1442.

According to authorities, the deadly crash happened around 9:37 p.m. in the 1300 block of FM 1442, also known as West Roundbunch.

Reports say that the rear-end crash left one man dead and another injured.

Authorities say that Calmelet was driving a 2014 Ford F-150 eastbound when it collided with the back of a 2025 Tesla driven by a 38-year-old man from Orange.

Officials say that the impact caused Calmelet’s pickup to overturn onto its driver’s side in a ditch on the north side of the road.

Despite rescue efforts by officers and bystanders who performed CPR, Calmelet was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Justice of the Peace.

The Tesla, found in a ditch on the south side of the road, sustained significant damage. The driver of the Tesla was transported by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were traveling eastbound when the collision occurred. After the crash, Calmelet’s truck struck a concrete culvert in the ditch.
