Driver Arrested for Intoxication Assault After Fiery I-10 Crash in El Paso
El Paso, TX (December 27, 2025) — A fiery crash on I-10 east in El Paso on Christmas Eve left three people injured and 31-year-old Andres Rubio was arrested by authorities.
Reports say that at approximately 8:12 p.m., Rubio lost control of his gray Ford truck while exiting the Raynolds ramp at high speed.
Authorities say that the vehicle nearly hit a barrier, rolled over, and caught fire, ultimately knocking down an overhead TxDOT sign. Rubio was arrested and charged with intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury. He posted bond and was released the same day.
Three individuals were hospitalized following the crash. One person sustained serious injuries, while two others suffered minor injuries.
The Texas Department of Transportation stated that repairing the damaged guardrails and replacing the overhead sign will require assessment and design work before scheduling. TxDOT emphasized that drivers or their insurance companies are responsible for the costs of repairing state property, including cleanup, guardrail repairs, sign replacement, and traffic control.
