Arlington, TX (July 1, 2025) – A suspected drunk driver fatally struck 19-year-old Angel Alonso early Saturday morning on Interstate 30 in Arlington.

According to police, the deadly crash happened just before 4 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Baird Farm Road.

Authorities stated that Alonso had initially collided with an abandoned vehicle parked on the shoulder. The impact pushed both cars into the main traffic lanes.

After the crash, Alonso exited his vehicle and used his cellphone light to warn and direct oncoming traffic around the scene. Moments later, 33-year-old Brittani Watkins drove into Alonso and his vehicle, causing her own car to flip onto its side.

Emergency responders pronounced Alonso dead at the scene. Paramedics transported Watkins to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, also 33, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.
