Angel Gamboa-Serrano Dead After Auto-Pedestrian Crash on 16th Street in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (July 3, 2025) – 21-year-old Angel Gamboa-Serrano died in a crash on 16th Street early Thursday morning.

Around 4:45 a.m., officers responded to a crash at 16th Street and Weir Avenue, just south of Broadway Road. 

When they arrived, they found a man who had been hit by a vehicle. Emergency crews transported the man—later identified as 21-year-old Angel Gamboa-Serrano—to the hospital with serious injuries. 

He was later pronounced dead.

The female driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with police. 

She suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

According to Phoenix Police, Gamboa-Serrano had been crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk when the collision occurred. 

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
