21-Year-Old Arrested After DWI Injury Crash in Sherman
Sherman, TX (May 14, 2025) — Police arrested 21-year-old Angel Navarro Tuesday evening after a suspected drunk driving crash injured another person in Sherman.
According to the Sherman Police Department, officers responded around 6:45 p.m. to a crash near Houston Street and Grand Avenue. Investigators said Navarro struck another vehicle in the intersection before crashing into a utility pole.
Authorities say that Navarro faces a third-degree felony charge of intoxication assault with a vehicle. He was booked into the Grayson County Jail following the incident.
One person inside the other vehicle suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
Police said evidence gathered at the scene indicated Navarro was intoxicated at the time of the collision. He remains in custody and could face up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), a person is injured in a motor vehicle crash every two minutes in Texas. In 2021 alone, more than 239,000 people were hurt in traffic accidents statewide — a sobering reminder that road safety is truly a matter of life and death.
Sadly, reckless and distracted driving continue to claim lives every day. Every few hours, another fatal crash happens somewhere in Texas. That’s why it’s so important to drive defensively, stay alert, follow the speed limit, and keep an eye out for others on the road. Safe driving is everyone’s responsibility.
Drivers should never get behind the wheel while impaired. Alcohol-related crashes can leave victims with serious injuries and permanently change lives. Always plan for a safe ride home and stay alert on the road.
Life After a Traffic Accident: What You Should Know
A traffic accident doesn’t truly end when the vehicles are removed from the scene. For many victims, the real impact begins afterward. Physical injuries, emotional distress, and financial burdens can linger long after the crash, making recovery challenging and overwhelming.
Car accident injuries range from minor cuts and bruises to serious conditions like broken bones, spinal injuries, or traumatic brain injuries. Even injuries that seem small at first can develop into long-term health issues. Beyond the physical pain, many people experience anxiety, stress, sleep disturbances, and post-traumatic stress. At the same time, medical bills pile up and missed work leads to lost income, creating additional financial strain.
If someone else’s negligence caused your accident, you may have the right to pursue compensation. This can include coverage for medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, pain and suffering, and future care needs. Understanding your rights is crucial to protecting your future.
