Stop Pedestrian Accidents and DUIs
To help avoid pedestrian accidents, drivers and pedestrians alike should be increasingly vigilant and watch out for each other. Drivers have to make sure to slow down in crowded areas, watch for people crossing and not get distracted, like by texting.
Pedestrians should cross only where they are supposed to, heed the traffic lights and attempt to establish eye contact with drivers before they step off the curb. If you’re walking at night, wear something bright or reflective so you’re easier to see. Do not walk and use a phone, or wear headphones, on the road.
If you or someone you know is injured in a pedestrian crash, seek medical attention immediately and report the incident to authorities. Drivers must stay alert and sober—especially near schools and busy intersections—to help prevent tragedies like this.
