Children Injured in Chelan Head-On Collision
Chelan, WA (October 20, 2025) – 31-year-old Antonietta Ramirez-Garcia of Bridgeport and her passengers were injured in a Highway 97 collision Saturday afternoon.
It was around 3:21 p.m. when a 2-vehicle crash happened near milepost 236.
Troopers said a southbound 2003 Subaru Legacy driven by Jackson Mallory, 22, of Seattle, crossed the center line and hit a northbound 2016 GMC Canyon pickup head-on.
The GMC’s driver, Antonietta Ramirez-Garcia, and her four passengers, ages 14, 11, 10, and 10 months, were all rushed to Lake Chelan Hospital. One of the kids was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Moreover, Mallory sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by Life Flight to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.
WSP officers said all parties involved in the collision were wearing seatbelts.
Troopers said both vehicles came to rest on the southbound shoulder and were towed from the scene.
According to the investigators, the cause of the crash was failure to maintain lane. They are still investigating if drugs or alcohol also played a role into the accident.
Traffic accidents can happen in the blink of an eye — but their effects can last a lifetime. Every time you get behind the wheel, remember: staying alert and making safe choices can save lives. Avoid distractions, never drive under the influence, and always wear your seatbelt. Follow speed limits, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and watch out for pedestrians and cyclists who share the road with you.
Take that extra moment to look both ways and yield cautiously at intersections — sometimes, that one second of attention can prevent a serious or even life-threatening crash.
Life After a Traffic Accident
The truth is, a crash doesn’t end when the wreckage is cleared away. For many, it’s just the beginning of a long and difficult road to recovery. Injuries can range from minor bruises to life-changing trauma, and the emotional toll can be just as heavy — stress, anxiety, or even the fear of driving again. Add medical bills, lost wages, and other financial worries, and it can all feel overwhelming.
