Injuries Reported in Petaluma Auto Accident near Johnson Street and East Washington Street

 
PETALUMA, CA (September 15, 2022) – Tuesday night, authorities arrested Antonio Mendoza Salinas after a DUI crash near John Street.
 
The incident occurred at about 8:55 p.m. near Johnson Street and East Washington Street. According to reports, Antonio Mendoza Salinas attempted to make a right turn. However, he crashed into a “Bike Route” sign at speeds of 40-45 mph.
 
Afterward, he struck a raised concrete barrier and the pedestrian safety railings on the East Washington Street overpass.
 
Then, the Acura sedan momentarily went airborne before stopping at an overpass.
 
According to some witnesses, Salinas attempted to restart his vehicle to flee the scene. Meanwhile, they noticed an adult male passenger walking in pain from the car. However, officers failed to find him.
 
When the officers arrived, they discovered Salinas showing objective signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking and driving. Upon hospitalization, they booked Salinas into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of DUI causing injury, hit-and-run property damage and being an unlicensed driver.
