Injuries Reported in Amarillo Traffic Crash on Interstate 27 and Rockwell Road

AMARILLO, TX (March 4, 2026) – Tuesday, a person was hospitalized after an alarming auto accident on Interstate 27 and Rockwell Road.

The incident happened on Interstate 27 and Rockwell Road.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials said the driver of a black Jeep Cherokee entered the exit ramp at a high rate of speed and struck the water barrels.

One person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The Texas Department of Transportation said the southbound I-27 exit ramp to Rockwell Road between Amarillo and Canyon was closed following the crash. TxDOT crews required time to repair the damaged barrels.
