1 Dead in Fresno County Auto Accident on Parlier Avenue and McCall Avenue

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (December 5, 2024) – Tuesday, Armando Jimenez Cadena died in a brutal crash on Parlier Avenue.

The incident occurred at about 9:30 a.m. on Parlier Avenue and McCall Avenue.

According to the CHP, a big rig traveling north on McCall Avenue collided with a pick-up truck that had entered the intersection from westbound Parlier Avenue after stopping.

Investigators determined the pick-up moved into the intersection, leading to a collision where the semi’s right front struck the truck, dragging it 100 feet. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Cadena of Del Rey, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

A passing motorist rescued a passenger from the pick-up, which had become engulfed in flames. The woman was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries but is currently in critical condition.

The semi-truck driver was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation. Authorities believe fog, with visibility reduced to 100 feet, may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
