Mission Man Ascencion Lopez Hernandez Killed in Rollover Crash on Bentsen Palm Road [Hidalgo County, TX]

Hidalgo County, TX (February 13, 2026) – 75-year-old Mission man Ascencion Lopez Hernandez was killed in a vehicle crash on Bentsen Palm Road.

The deadly solo-vehicle crash happened past 6 a.m. north of San Lucas Street.

Investigators said a gold Chevrolet Malibu, driven Hernandez, was southbound on Bentsen Palm Road.

Hernandez passed another southbound vehicle, when it overcorrected to avoid colliding with a northbound vehicle.

Hernandez lost control of the vehicle and it swerved off the roadway, and rolled over.

Sadly, Hernandez was declared dead at the scene, while his passenger was rushed to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
