3 People Hospitalized After Crash on Highway 54 in Pike County
PIKE COUNTY, MO (April 23, 2026)— A woman and a teenage girl from Ashland suffered serious injuries Thursday in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 54 west of Route UU, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
MSHP said all three vehicles were traveling eastbound when the driver of a semi-truck, a 35-year-old Jefferson City man, slowed for ducks in the roadway.
A 53-year-old Ashland woman driving a 2024 Nissan Rogue also slowed down. Moments later, a 2021 Isuzu NPR driven by a 53-year-old Edwardsville, Illinois, man struck the Nissan, according to the crash report.
The Ashland woman and her passenger, a 14-year-old girl from Ashland, sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders flew both victims to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for treatment.
The Edwardsville man suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital. The Jefferson City semi-truck driver reported no injuries.
Authorities said everyone involved in the crash wore seatbelts. The Missouri State Highway Patrol does not release the names of people involved in crashes.
Seriously Injured in a Multi-Vehicle Crash? Sweet Lawyers Can Help You Move Forward
A serious crash involving multiple vehicles can leave victims and families facing immediate fear, confusion, and uncertainty.
When a woman and a young passenger suffer serious injuries and require air transport to a hospital, the physical and emotional toll can be overwhelming.
Families may suddenly need to manage emergency medical care, hospitalization, travel to treatment facilities, insurance calls, vehicle damage, and questions about how the crash happened.
At Sweet Lawyers, we understand how traumatic a major collision can be, especially when a child is injured. Serious injuries may require long-term treatment, surgery, rehabilitation, physical therapy, and ongoing follow-up care.
Victims may also face missed work, emotional distress, and financial strain while trying to recover.
Our personal injury team helps injured crash victims and their families understand their rights after serious roadway accidents. Multi-vehicle crashes often involve complex investigations because several drivers, vehicles, and insurance companies may be involved.
Determining liability may require reviewing crash reports, vehicle damage, witness statements, roadway conditions, driver conduct, and all available evidence.
Insurance companies may try to minimize claims or shift responsibility, even when victims are still receiving medical care.
Sweet Lawyers works to protect injured people from unfair treatment and helps pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, rehabilitation costs, and other crash-related damages.
If you or someone you love suffered serious injuries in a multi-vehicle accident in Missouri or elsewhere, you do not have to face the process alone.
