Two Injured After ATV Overturns on Hill in Moniteau County
Moniteau County, CA (June 26, 2025) — A 54-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman, both from Polo, Missouri, were injured Tuesday evening after an ATV crash on Garrett Road in Moniteau County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 7:55 p.m. in the 16000 block of Garrett Road. The driver of a 2004 Honda Recon was traveling south when he failed to navigate a hill, causing the ATV to overturn.
The vehicle rolled over and pinned both occupants underneath. The driver suffered serious injuries, while the woman sustained moderate injuries.
Emergency crews transported both victims to University Hospital for treatment. Authorities reported that neither occupant was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The ATV sustained minor damage, and the incident remains documented in the patrol’s crash report.
Let’s Drive Safer Together
High-speed crashes can occur in the blink of an eye, but so many are preventable with small, intelligent decisions. Pay attention, don’t get distracted (say, by texting) and never drive after drinking. As ever – obey speed limits, buckle up and keep plenty of room between yourself and other vehicles. These are small enough measures to save lives — including your own.
We can all take steps to help keep our roads safe for ourselves, our families and our communities.
ATVs can become unstable on uneven terrain and steep hillsides. Riders should always wear helmets, operate vehicles at safe speeds, and use caution when navigating challenging terrain to help reduce the risk of serious injuries.
