Augustin Flores Mendez Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash on West Main Street [Tustin, CA]

Tustin, CA (August 16, 2025) – A driver fatally struck 60-year-old Augustin Flores Mendez late Saturday night in Tustin and fled the scene.

According to authorities, the crash happened around 11:17 p.m. at the intersection of West Main Street and A Street.

Authorities arrived to find Mendez lying in the eastbound lanes with severe injuries. Medics performed CPR before rushing him to OC Global Medical Center, where he later died.

Investigators believe Mendez was crossing the street with his walker when an eastbound vehicle hit him and sped away.

Police established a crime scene and are gathering evidence, including potential video footage, to help identify the driver. So far, no suspect or vehicle description has been released.
