39-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies After Early Morning Collision on East First Street in Beaumont
Beaumont, CA (July 2, 2026) — 39-year-old Awoke Ayalew lost his life after a vehicle struck him early Wednesday morning on East First Street in Beaumont.
According to authorities, the collision happened shortly after 4 a.m. on East First Street, just east of Michigan Avenue.
Investigators identified the victim as Awoke Ayalew of Moreno Valley. Police said he was walking along the roadway in an undetermined direction when a vehicle hit him.
The driver remained at the scene and immediately called 911. Beaumont police officers and paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department responded within minutes, but Ayalew was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the preliminary investigation, authorities found no immediate evidence that alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. Police did not arrest the driver.
