Police Investigate Two-Vehicle Crash on 8th Street in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA (August 25, 2025) – A crash on 8th Street on Sunday night severely injured a baby.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of 8th Street and T Street at around 7:31 p.m. on August 24, 2025.

When officers arrived, they discovered a red pickup truck and a silver sedan involved in the collision. 

Inside the silver sedan, a baby passenger suffered severe injuries from the crash. 

Emergency personnel transported the child to a nearby hospital for medical care.

Both drivers—one woman driving the sedan northbound on T Street and a man driving the pickup westbound on 8th Street—remained at the scene and declined medical attention. 

Officers confirmed that no other passengers were involved.

Police stated that early findings indicate the crash occurred at an intersection where only the northbound and southbound lanes have posted stop signs. 

Both drivers cooperated fully with the investigation, and authorities have ruled out impairment as a factor in the incident.
