29-Year-Old Bailey Rae McCorkhill Arrested in Pangborn Road Hit-and-Run Crash [Whatcom County, WA]

Whatcom County, WA (September 26, 2025) – The authorities arrested Bailey Rae McCorkhill, 29, following a Pangborn Road hit-and-run crash Saturday night.

The authorities responded around 6:20 p.m. on September 13 after receiving a report of a red Saturn SUV traveling over 60 mph through a stop sign at the intersection with Northwest Road. 

The Saturn SUV driven by McCorkhill collided with a dark colored Mazda. 

Responding officers located the Mazda’s driver, unconscious, with head and arm injuries. The rescuers took her to St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, where it was discovered that she sustained spinal cord damage, brain bleed and significant pelvis fractures. 

The injured woman was then airlifted to a regional medical facility.

Moreover, McCorkhill retrieved a bike from his vehicle and fled east on Pangborn Road. 

The authorities later received a report from a resident at 1600 block of Pangborn Road saying there was an injured and suspicious person on their property.

When officers arrived, McCorkhill attempted to ride away on the bicycle despite the officer telling him he was under arrest and had to stop. 

Subsequently, the bike malfunctioned, and McCorkhill tried to run away for a short time and later surrendered to law enforcement.
