Barbara Jones Killed, 1 Hurt in Tucson Pedestrian Accident near Interstate 19 and Esperanza Road

TUCSON, AZ (December 2, 2025) – Monday morning, a crippling pedestrian crash near Interstate 19 and Esperanza Road left Barbara Jones, 74, dead.

Reports said that the Tucson accident happened at around 9:34 a.m. near Interstate 19 and Esperanza Road.

According to the Drexel Heights Fire District, a vehicle struck two pedestrians for still unknown reasons.

Moreover, responders transported the two victims, a male and a female, to Banner University Medical Center Main Campus, one with critical injuries. The victim, 74-year-old Jones, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Furthermore, the crash closed Esperanza Boulevard west but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department continued investigating the deadly Tucson crash.
