Barbara Thacker and Timothy Head Die in 2-Car Collision on Interstate 10 [Clint, TX]

Clint, TX (June 30, 2026) — On Monday morning, Barbara Thacker and Timothy Head died, and four others were injured following a head-on collision on Interstate 10 near Clint in El Paso County.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened shortly before 10 a.m. near Mile Marker 42. Investigators said a 2021 Lincoln Navigator was traveling westbound when it crossed the median for unknown reasons and entered the eastbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a 2025 Nissan Rogue.

Authorities identified the deceased as 78-year-old Head of Van Horn, the driver of the Lincoln Navigator, and 67-year-old Thacker of Vernon, a passenger in the Nissan Rogue. Both were taken to a local hospital but later died from their injuries.

Four other occupants from the two vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

The crash forced the closure of all eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 for several hours while crews investigated and cleared the scene. The roadway reopened later that afternoon.

Officials have not yet determined what caused the Lincoln Navigator to cross the median, and the investigation remains ongoing.
