Bernandino Bautista Arrested in Deadly Crash on Moline Street [Houston, TX]

Houston, TX (August 20, 2026) — A 62-year-old man died Wednesday morning after Bernandino Bautista allegedly ran a stop sign and struck him while he crossed the intersection with a walker.

The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. at Moline Street and Telephone Road. Houston police said 55-year-old Bautista was driving a black Toyota Solara eastbound on Moline Street when he approached the intersection.

Investigators determined Bautista failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the crosswalk, where he struck the pedestrian. Bautista told investigators that sunlight affected his visibility before the collision.

Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Authorities arrested Bautista and charged him with criminally negligent homicide. The investigation remains ongoing.
