According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department (SDSD), the traffic collision happened before 6 p.m. near Encinitas Boulevard.

Reports say that cyclist sustained injuries after colliding with a car in Encinitas on New Year’s Day.

Deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station responded to the crash near Encinitas Boulevard and Cerro Street.

The collision occurred as a 79-year-old woman drove a Hyundai Elantra eastbound on Encinitas Boulevard. Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
