Injuries Reported in Maricopa Bicycle Crash on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and Porter Road

MARICOPA, AZ (March 1, 2026) – Wednesday morning, a 13-year-old rider sustained injuries in a crippling bicycle accident on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.

The incident happened at 7:30 a.m. when a white Jeep hit the rider in front of the Walmart on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, at the Porter Road intersection.

The cyclist had a green light to cross the road, according to police spokesperson Monica Williams. Commuters on social media echoed that account.

The Maricopa Fire and Medical Department said the child suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital as a precaution, accompanied by a parent. Video on the Citizen app showed the child being placed on a gurney and loaded into an ambulance.

Police have cited the driver, Williams said.

She added that the child was wearing a helmet, which officers believe significantly reduced the extent of the injuries.
