Police Investigate Fatal Crash at Market Street in Houston
HOUSTON, TX (December 24, 2025)— A tragic crash at Market Street in east Houston claimed the life of a bicyclist on Tuesday night after an SUV struck him at a busy intersection.
According to the Houston Police Department, the deadly crash occurred at the intersection of Market Street and N. Wayside Drive.
Investigators from the Vehicular Crimes Unit report that the man was riding his bicycle when an SUV traveling through the intersection with a green light collided with him.
Sgt. Griffiths of HPD stated that the SUV driver did not see the bicyclist in time to stop. Despite an immediate emergency response, the bicyclist succumbed to his injuries shortly after the crash.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the SUV remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
The identities of both the bicyclist and the driver have not yet been released.
