Police Investigate Crash Near 50th Avenue in Coachella
COACHELLA, CA (June 11, 2026)— All lanes of northbound State Route 86 reopened Thursday afternoon after a crash near 50th Avenue involving two big rig semi-trucks and another vehicle shut down lanes.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 4:00 a.m.
CHP said one northbound semi-truck rear-ended another semi-truck. A third vehicle then crashed into the trucks, causing one of the big rigs to catch fire.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and worked for several hours to clear the crash and reopen the roadway.
Authorities said no major injuries were reported.
The crash caused traffic delays in the area during the morning commute. CHP directed drivers to use alternate routes, including Tyler Street and 50th Avenue to Grapefruit Boulevard.
CHP later reopened all lanes around 2:00 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Hurt After a Coachella Big Rig Crash? Sweet Lawyers Can Help
A crash involving two big rigs and another vehicle can create a dangerous and frightening scene, especially when one truck catches fire and lanes remain closed for hours.
Even when authorities report no major injuries, people involved in a commercial truck crash may still experience pain, shock, smoke exposure, headaches, neck injuries, back pain, bruising, and emotional distress after the collision.
At Sweet Lawyers, we understand how overwhelming truck crashes can be. Victims may face vehicle damage, delayed symptoms, missed work, medical concerns, and confusing insurance questions.
After a crash involving multiple vehicles and commercial trucks, it is important to document any pain, seek medical evaluation, and understand your legal options before speaking extensively with insurance companies.
Big rig crashes require careful investigation. Important evidence may include the CHP report, fire department records, vehicle damage, roadway markings, truck driver logs, black box data, maintenance records, inspection history, cargo information, crash scene photos, witness statements, traffic camera footage, and any available dash camera video.
Investigators may also review speed, following distance, braking, driver attention, fatigue, visibility, lighting, and whether traffic conditions contributed to the rear-end collision.
Insurance companies may try to minimize claims when injuries are not immediately described as severe. However, injuries from truck crashes can worsen after the adrenaline wears off.
A personal injury claim may help injured victims pursue compensation for medical evaluations, follow-up care, lost income, pain and suffering, property damage, and other crash-related losses.
Sweet Lawyers helps injured crash victims protect their rights with compassion, clarity, and trusted advocacy.
Our team can review available evidence, communicate with insurance companies, and explain legal options clearly.
