Big Rig Crash on State Route 18 Kills 2 People [Lucerne Valley, CA]

Lucerne Valley, CA (March 17, 2026) — On Monday morning, 2 people lost their lives after a devastating crash on State Route 18 involving a sedan and a semi-truck.

The collision happened around 9:32 a.m. east of Meridian Road. Authorities said a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis collided with a Robertson’s Transport semi-truck pulling a tanker trailer.

Reports say that the impact caused catastrophic damage to the passenger side of the sedan. The force crushed the roof and wedged the car beneath the front portion of the semi-truck before the vehicle came to rest off the roadway in the dirt shoulder and nearby desert brush.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and confirmed that the two occupants inside the Mercury Grand Marquis died from their injuries.

Officials also noted that a third vehicle, a Jeep, was present during the incident but did not make contact with either of the vehicles involved in the crash.

Responders temporarily redirected traffic away from the area while crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the collision. Tow trucks were later called to remove the heavily damaged vehicles as authorities managed traffic along the highway.

Investigators continue to examine what led to the crash. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims.
