Big Rig Crash on Travis Road Led to Injury [Benton County, WA]

Benton County, WA (August 8, 2026) — A person suffered serious injuries Thursday evening following a crash on Travis Road between a semi-truck and an SUV.

The crash happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Travis Road and Sellards Road outside Benton City.

Responding deputies from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office found both vehicles had been pushed north of the intersection by the force of the impact.

Witnesses assisted the SUV driver until emergency crews arrived. First responders airlifted the injured driver to a nearby hospital just before 5:30 p.m. Officials have not released the victim’s condition.

The semi-truck driver was not injured and did not require hospitalization.

Authorities closed Travis Road and Sellards Road near the crash site for several hours while investigators examined the scene. Officials have not determined the cause of the collision, which remains under investigation. The intersection is controlled by stop signs for traffic traveling on Travis Road.

The location has been the site of multiple fatal crashes in recent years, including a 2024 collision that claimed the lives of a Benton County prosecutor, his wife, and their two children, as well as another deadly crash in 2025.
