24-Year-Old Bilgee Elamin Killed in Tragic Crash on Pierson Street [Phoenix, AZ]

Phoenix, AZ (July 3, 2025) – 24-year-old Bilgee Elamin was found lying on the roadway with critical injuries after a tragic crash on Pierson Street.

According to Phoenix authorities, the pedestrian collision happened around 2:15 a.m. on Pierson Street, just south of Camelback Road.

Police arrested a driver involved in a deadly pedestrian crash early Monday morning.

Investigators determined that 45-year-old Deanna Shugart struck Elamin with her minivan while driving northbound on 27th Avenue. Shugart remained at the scene, where police observed signs of impairment. Officers later processed her for DUI and booked her on narcotics charges.

Elamin succumbed to her injuries the following day. The Phoenix Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
