Box Truck Airlifted in Big Rig Crash on I-70 [Summit County, CO]

Summit County, CO (July 4, 2025) – A box truck driver was badly injured in a big rig crash on I-70 Wednesday morning.

It was about 4 a.m. when the collision between a box truck and a semi-truck happened on the westbound freeway near the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel.

Rescuers performed a difficult extrication of the seriously injured driver who was then airlifted by Flight for Life helicopter to St. Anthony Hospital in Denver. 

Tropic crews worked to clean the hazardous materials that spilled onto the roadway.
