Brad Lawrence and Carter Buckner Dead in Mazatzal Wilderness Plane Crash [Payson, AZ]

Payson, AZ (August 12, 2026) – Brad Lawrence, 75, and Carter Buckner, 19, from Payson, lost their lives following a Mazatzal Wilderness plane crash late Monday night.

Police said a Glasair Sportsman 2+2 crashed around 11 p.m. on August 10 on a remote and in rugged terrain of the Mazatzal Wilderness.

Sadly, the two plane occupants, Lawrence and Buckner, were killed in the collision.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are also conducting further investigation into the deadly crash.
