Brandon Guerrero Dies in Brutal Traffic Collision on Highway 87

30-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck While Walking on US 87 in Lubbock

Lubbock, TX (September 29, 2025) — Friday evening, 30-year-old Brandon Guerrero died after being hit by a vehicle while walking along U.S. 87 following an earlier crash.

Authorities said Guerrero was driving north on I-27 near 98th Street when his Ford Escape was disabled in a single-vehicle collision. Guerrero left the car and entered the southbound lanes of U.S. 87, where a Ford Mustang struck him. He died from his injuries at the scene.

The Mustang’s driver sustained minor injuries.

On Monday, officials announced both directions of I-27 and U.S. 87 between South Loop 289 and 98th Street would be closed for reconstruction starting at 12:30 p.m. Drivers are advised to avoid the area for several hours.
