Brenda Anais Archuleta of Ropesville Dead in US 385 Collision [Gaines County, TX]

Gaines County, TX (July 6, 2026) – Brenda Anais Archuleta, 30, of Ropesville, was killed, and her passengers were injured following a US 385 collision Thursday evening.

The deadly 2-vehicle crash happened at 6:30 p.m. on July 2, near mile marker 260.

Investigators said a 2025 Toyota Tacoma was traveling north in the right lane of the freeway.

At the same time, a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by Archuleta was also northbound. Police said Archuleta swerved from the left lane into the right lane of the freeway and struck the Tacoma. 

Archuleta’s vehicle left the roadway and rolled over. 

Police determined Archuleta was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash. She was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The authorities said one of Archuleta’s passenger, a 13-year-old girl, was also not wearing a seatbelt. She was thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Rescuers rushed her to University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Moreover, the other passengers in the Ram, an 11-year-old female and a 7-year-old male, both from Ropesville, and a 12-year-old female from Lubbock, were wearing seatbelts and did not sustain injuries from the collision.

The Tacoma’s driver was wearing a seatbelt and was also not injured.

In the meantime, the Lamesa district of the Texas Highway Patrol is conducting a further investigation into the deadly crash.
