Brenda Guerrero Injured in Fatal Collision on FM 1788

Driver Dies in CR 140 3-Vehicle Crash

Midland County, TX (May 10, 2024) – 32-year-old Brenda Guerrero was injured following a fatal collision on FM 1788 Monday evening.

It was about 6:30 p.m. when the collision between a 2018 Ford F-150, a 2024 Peterbilt 567 with a trailer, and a 2020 Chevrolet 2500, happened on CR 140.

Investigators said a Ford F-150 driven by 33-year-old Lorenzo Najera attempted to pass the Peterbilt 567 on the right but collided with its front right side.

Najera then lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic where it was hit by the Chevrolet 2500.

Responding officers declared Lorenzo Najera deceased at the scene.

Najera’s passenger, Brenda Guerrero, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital.

Two other passengers in the Ford F-150 were minors with ages 10 and 3. They also incurred minor injuries.

The Peterbilt 567 driver, 34-year-old Jared Todd South, was not hurt in the collision.

Moreover, the Chevrolet 2500 driver, 64-year-old Juan Diaz Veloz, also incurred minor injuries. He was also transported to Midland Memorial Hospital.

The F-150 caught fire and was thrown off the roadway.
