Man in Wheelchair Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver at Vista Village and Wave Drives

 
VISTA, CA (February 2, 2020) – A man in a wheelchair was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning in Vista.
 
The fatal crash happened on February 2 around 12:21 a.m. at Vista Village Drive at Wave Drive.
 
According to authorities, the man was trying to cross the intersection when a vehicle struck him. A passerby came across the aftermath of the crash and called for help.
 
Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office said the man was living a transient lifestyle.
 
The involved vehicle reportedly took off. But debris found at the scene appears to be from an early 1990s GM sport utility vehicle or truck. It was last seen heading northbound on Vista Village Drive.
 
Authorities identified the victim Monday as 43-year-old Brian Wayne Conner.
 
An investigation into this fatal incident is still ongoing.
