1 Dead in Houston Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 45 near Rankin Road

HOUSTON, TX (April 1, 2026) – Monday night, a man died in a brutal 3-vehicle crash on Interstate 45 near Rankin Road.

The incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Interstate 45 near Rankin Road.

Authorities said all northbound lanes of the I-45 North Freeway were temporarily closed before Rankin Road but have since reopened.

Investigators said a man was attempting to cross the freeway when he was struck by at least three vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said all three drivers stopped after the crash, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
