1 Dead in Vista Auto Accident near S Melrose Drive and Breeze Hill Road

VISTA, CA (August 31, 2026) – Saturday afternoon, a 26-year-old man died in a brutal e-bike crash near S Melrose Drive and Breeze Hill Road.

The incident involving an e-bike happened at about 3:38 p.m. near South Melrose Drive and Breeze Hill Road.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, the rider crossed South Melrose Drive against a red light and was hit by a vehicle traveling northbound. The rider suffered significant injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities said drugs and alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the crash.

The Vista Sheriff Station’s Traffic Unit is investigating.
