1 Dead in Albuquerque Pedestrian Accident near Trumbull Avenue and San Pablo Street SE

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (September 8, 2024) – Thursday night, a person died in a brutal hit-and-run crash near Trumbull Avenue.

APD’s civilian PIO, Gilbert Gallegos issued a statement regarding a fatal hit-and-run. According to the reports, APD’s Fatal Crash Unit is investigating the death of a pedestrian that occurred late Thursday night near Trumbull Ave. and San Pablo St., S.E.

The initial investigation revealed that two pedestrians were walking along the roadway on Trumbull near Grove St. SE around 9:40 p.m. when a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a truck or a jeep, was speeding westbound. 

One of the pedestrians managed to avoid the vehicle, but a female pedestrian was struck. She sustained severe injuries, and Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to the scene, but she was pronounced dead upon their arrival. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately. 

The investigation is ongoing, and APD is asking residents or business owners in the area with security cameras to review any footage from around 9:40 PM to assist in identifying the vehicle.
