1 Dead in Huntington Beach Bicycle Accident on Heil Avenue and Springdale Street

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (September 12, 2023) – Monday night, a brutal hit-and-run crash on Heil Avenue and Springdale Street killed 1 person.

The crash happened at around 1030 p.m. on Heil Avenue and Springdale Street, said Sgt. Mike Woodroof of the Orange County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Department.

According to a bicyclist, a driver intentionally sideswiped him at Brad Drive and Edwards Street.

When the officers arrived, they found the victim with minor injuries. Then, another bicyclist was reported at Heil Avenue and Springdale Street. However, the said victim succumbed to injuries at the scene.

Later, another victim reported that as he rode his bike at Warner Avenue and Edwards Street around 10 p.m., a hit-and-run vehicle struck him as well. As a result, that bicyclist suffered minor injuries.

The authorities suspect that the crashes are all related and urged anyone who witnessed what happened to call investigators. Then, police are searching for a black Toyota four-door car with significant front passenger-side bumper damage.

Furthermore, they urged anyone who can aid the investigation was urged to call 714-375-5066. Meanwhile, anonymous tipsters can contact OC Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
