1 Dead in Oakland Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 880 near Davis Street

OAKLAND, CA (May 5, 2026) – Sunday morning, a teenage girl died in a brutal multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 880 near Davis Street.

The incident happened on Interstate 880 near Davis Street offramp.

Three vehicles, a 2011 BMW 545i, a box truck, and a 2015 Honda Accord, were involved in a crash on I-880, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the initial collision happened around 4:21 a.m. between the BMW and the Honda. After the crash, the 19-year-old BMW driver and a 15-year-old front passenger fled the scene. Neither was injured.

Two other passengers in the BMW were ejected. One suffered severe facial injuries and was taken to Eden Medical Center. The other, a 15-year-old girl, died after a box truck crashed at the scene of the initial collision.

The Honda driver sustained a fractured left shoulder and was also taken to Eden Medical Center. Both occupants of the box truck were not injured.

CHP said the BMW driver is facing charges including felony DUI, felony hit-and-run, and vehicular manslaughter due to negligence.

Several northbound I-880 access points were closed for about four hours following the crash. Authorities have not released the victims’ names.
